OUR PROCESS - CLEAN AND SIMPLE:

Online Application
Click “Apply Now”, apply online or download our application form to complete it and fax it to us. Please answer the application questions in full and complete the financial information form. Our crack franchise team reviews all applications confidentially and contacts only promising candidates. An application form cannot be processed until you submit it to us digitally (for online applications) or by facsimile (for printed applications), completed and signed by you (your digital signature will be required for online applications). Incomplete or unsigned forms will be disregarded. At this stage, you are also asked to submit a deposit of $5,000 plus GST. If your candidacy is not accepted for any reason at or before Stage 3, your full deposit will be refunded. If your candidacy has been accepted and we move to Contract Stage (Stage 4), and you withdraw, or we refuse your candidacy, for any reason such that no franchise agreement is signed between us, then we will retain $1,500 plus GST of your deposit as liquidated damages and refund the rest.
 
Stage 1 - (Telephone) Interview:
If you appear to be a promising candidate, your business acumen and leadership abilities will be assessed in a telephone interview. A member of our franchise unit will contact you to conduct a Stage 1 telephone interview. Your credit, banking and personal references may be verified at this time. Timing: Approximately within 1 month from receipt of your completed, signed application form.

Stage 2 - (In-Person or Telephone) Interview:
If you have passed the Stage 1 Interview, you will be interviewed in-depth either in-person (travel to Franchisor’s head office at your own expense) or via telephone. Your credit, banking and personal references will be verified at this time. You may be asked to submit additional personal or financial information in preparation of this meeting such as a more detailed personal financial statement. You may be asked for guarantors. Timing: Approximately within 1 month from passing the Stage 1 Interview.

Stage 3 - (In-Person) Interview:
If you have passed the Stage 2 Interview, you may be interviewed in-depth again in a Stage 3 in-person Interview (travel to Franchisor’s head office at your own expense). See Stage 2 Interview details for what to expect. If we deem it necessary, we will ask for additional information, references, guarantors and/or interviews at this stage. Timing: Approximately within 3 weeks from passing the Stage 2 Interview.

Stage 4 - Contract:
If you have passed the Stage 3 Interview then you will be given our franchise contract template to examine and sign. You must sign your contract within 21 days of it being delivered to you. You will have to incorporate an operating company to operate your franchised Hempire® business and be the franchisee. You may not use the mark “Hempire” as part of your corporate name. The material terms of our contract are not negotiable as it must remain consistent from franchisee to franchisee. Our franchise contract is drafted according to industry standards and is designed to protect the consistency of our franchise system and the goodwill in our brand. All franchisees benefit from this. However, we recommend that you consult with an accountant and a franchise attorney to ensure that you understand all your obligations under the franchise contract. As regards a franchise attorney, we recommend Lori Karpman & Associates (www.lorikarpman.com; 1-888-888-3183) who can advise you on the franchise contract as well as your other franchise and marketing needs. Once you are satisfied about becoming our franchisee, the franchise candidate and all guarantors will be required to sign our contract in triplicate as the first signing parties. The non-refundable initial franchise fee must be submitted by certified cheque at the same time that the signed contract is delivered to us. Your earlier deposit will be credited against the initial franchise fee. Upon receipt of your franchise fee and your duly signed contract in triplicate, we will countersign the franchise contract. Only a franchise contract that has been countersigned by us will be valid and binding. Timing: Signature by franchisee and guarantors within 21 days of receipt of the franchise contract.

Stage 5 – Site Selection and Build-Out:
It is your obligation to propose a site for your franchised Hempire® business but we must pre-approve your site. You are required to negotiate your lease directly with the landlord but we must pre-approve your lease. We will require certain clauses to be part of your lease to protect the Hempire® brand. You will enter your lease directly with the landlord. Hempire® does not guarantee the leases of its franchisees. You must design, build, decorate and merchandise your franchised Hempire® business in accordance with our standards and requirements. Your outdoor and indoor Hempire® signage and trademarks usage must conform to our standards and requirements.

Stage 6 – Opening Inventory:
It is your obligation to purchase your opening and ongoing inventory only from Hempire® or Hempire®-approved suppliers. Once you are a bona fide HempireZEE (Stage 4), you will be given a list of required opening inventory and approved Hempire®-suppliers. You will also be given our operations manual, grand opening marketing kit and other helpful materials. You will not acquire any ownership or intellectual property rights in any of our materials, products, systems, trademarks or brands.
